Understanding Science- a great new website

Understanding Science is a “fun, accessible, and free resource that accurately communicates what science is and how it really works.” The site, intended for both the general public and K-16 teachers, draws students into real-life examples and looks at the social side of science, science and society, and asks, “What has science done for you lately?” It also provides users with a comprehensive science toolkit. Teacher resources are targeted to specific grade bands.

Biology High School Resource

Biology / High School Resource

Hello, we’ve created a Biology Teacher’s Lesson Plans web site and wanted to let you know about it. It’s www.Biology4Teachers.com and has lesson plans, powerpoints, games, and more. The site was the idea of an Arizona high school biology teacher so the activities on our site are what she uses in her classroom. We’re looking for more lesson plans and powerpoints to add to the site so please feel free to forward any on if so inclined.

15th Annual Symposium for Girls

March 14, 2009
8:00 amto12:00 pm

Sacred Hearts Academy is hosting its 15th Annual Science Symposium for Girls on Saturday, March 14, 2009 on the Academy campus.  The half-day workshop is intended to excite girls in grades 5-8 about the Science, Technology, Engineering and Math topics.  Eighteen hands-on, interactive workshops where girls will be exposed to STEM topics in a fun way are planned.
We would appreciate the name of the lead Science and Math teacher at all public schools that enroll 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th graders.  A letter asking the teachers to disseminate the workshop information will be mailed next week.
A list of these teachers and their school name and address or their email address would be very much appreciated.
If there are any questions, please contact Andrea Hamilton at 734-5058, ext. 229 or by email, ahamilton@sacredhearts.org.
